Esprit asks an AES/EBU cable neither to color the sound nor to compensate for anything. In the company's view, an AES/EBU cable should be as transparent as possible, so that the system's own qualities can come through.

The Esprit Aura AES/EBU Digital Cable is a 110 ohm digital cable from Esprit's Aura range. The Aura AES/EBU cable is assembled by hand at Esprit's workshop in Confolens, in 1 and 1.5 m.

The idea

Esprit calls Aura a decisive advance, a range of more sophisticated architectures conceived for high-end systems, and the Aura AES/EBU cable is drawn from it. At this level Esprit reinforces conductor density again, part of the groundwork of the Aura AES/EBU cable. Aura sits at the center of Esprit's nine ranges, the point where the Aura AES/EBU cable begins to reach toward the most resolving systems. Richard Cesari has been making cables since 1996, and the Aura AES/EBU cable carries three decades of that work.

By hand, in Charente

In Confolens, Charente, the Aura AES/EBU cable is made the way Esprit has always worked, entirely by hand. Esprit says this hand method lets it control every step of making the Aura AES/EBU cable and keep each one consistent. Each Aura AES/EBU cable then passes two complete inspections, one by its assembler and one at final packing, before it leaves the workshop. It is unhurried work, and the Aura AES/EBU cable is made at its pace.

The sound, in Esprit's words

In Esprit's words, the Aura AES/EBU cable makes a system quieter, more stable and more immersive, bringing out micro-information, deepening the stage and giving dynamics more freedom.

Its connectors are Esprit's own Eh 100 type, built around a pure copper body and center pin with 10-micron silver plating, because Esprit designs a connector on the Aura AES/EBU cable as an extension of the conductor itself. Inside, the Aura AES/EBU cable uses a triax construction, insulated in polyamide imide rated to thermal class 200°. For Esprit, a cable such as the Aura AES/EBU cable should simply let the system express what it can do.

Finding your place in the range

The Aura AES/EBU cable is level 5 of Esprit's nine, above Eterna and below Lumina. The Aura AES/EBU cable is a 110 ohm cable with XLR connectors, offered in 1 and 1.5 m. We're always glad to help you choose, so write to us about the Aura AES/EBU cable at any time. You can see the Aura AES/EBU cable beside the other Esprit ranges in our Esprit collection.

Questions

How does the Lumina AES/EBU cable compare with the Aura AES/EBU cable?

The Lumina AES/EBU cable is the next level up from the Aura AES/EBU cable. Where it differs from the Aura AES/EBU cable, the Lumina AES/EBU cable uses Eh 200 connectors in place of Eh 100 and a five core shielded geometry.

Which connectors does the Aura AES/EBU cable use?

The Aura AES/EBU cable uses Esprit Eh 100 connectors, which have a pure copper body and center pin with 10-micron silver plating. Esprit has developed several connector generations so that each range, the Aura AES/EBU cable included, has an interface matched to it.

What is the Aura AES/EBU cable used for?

The Aura AES/EBU cable carries an AES/EBU digital signal between components with XLR digital sockets, such as a transport or streamer and a DAC. The Aura AES/EBU cable is a 110 ohm cable, the impedance Esprit specifies for this link.

What does the Aura AES/EBU cable cost?

The Aura AES/EBU cable is $2,599 for 1 m and $3,299 for 1.5 m. Sales tax is included in the price of the Aura AES/EBU cable, and we deliver it free anywhere in the USA.

Where is the Aura AES/EBU cable made, and when will it ship?

Esprit builds every Aura AES/EBU cable by hand in its workshop in Confolens, France. The Aura AES/EBU cable usually ships in about 2 weeks, with free delivery anywhere in the USA and sales tax included in the price.
