Richard Cesari turns to silver and copper, among the finest conductors on the planet at room temperature, when he designs a power cord. He calls the choice of metals in a power cord a matter of coherence rather than luxury.
The Esprit Beta Audiophile Power Cord is a mains cable from Esprit's Beta range. The Beta power cord is assembled by hand at Esprit's workshop in Confolens, with a US plug and an IEC connector, in 1.5, 2 and 4 m.
The idea
Inside Esprit, the Beta range goes by a nickname, the "cable killer", and the Beta power cord belongs to that family. Esprit builds Beta around fine-strand pure copper, optimized insulation and protection against high-frequency interference, the foundations of the Beta power cord. The aim Esprit sets for the range is fluid, coherent transmission in analog and digital alike, and the Beta power cord is built to that brief. Richard Cesari has been making cables since 1996, and the Beta power cord carries three decades of that work.
By hand, in Charente
In Confolens, Charente, the Beta power cord is made the way Esprit has always worked, entirely by hand. Esprit says this hand method lets it control every step of making the Beta power cord and keep each one consistent. Each Beta power cord then passes two complete inspections, one by its assembler and one at final packing, before it leaves the workshop. It is unhurried work, and the Beta power cord is made at its pace.
How it sounds
Esprit describes the sound of the range as balanced, dynamic and remarkably legible, and it presents the Beta power cord as a foundation for a stable, musical system.
Esprit has found that very fine strands help high-frequency detail, provided the insulation keeps the treble in check, and the Beta power cord uses fine-strand pure copper. Esprit shields its mains cables in full so they do not radiate into nearby interconnects and speaker cables, and the Beta power cord is built that way. The conductors of the Beta power cord are specified as 13-14 AWG, with a strand size of 0.37mm. Esprit fits the Beta power cord with its own US plug and IEC connector, in polymer shells as on its Alpha, Beta and Celesta cords.
Finding your place in the range
The Beta power cord is level 2 of Esprit's nine, above Alpha and below Celesta. The Beta power cord comes in 1.5, 2 and 4 m with a US plug and an IEC connector. We're always glad to help you choose, so write to us about the Beta power cord at any time. You can see the Beta power cord beside the other Esprit ranges in our Esprit collection.

Questions
How does the Celesta power cord compare with the Beta power cord?
The Celesta power cord is the next level up from the Beta power cord. Where it differs from the Beta power cord, the Celesta power cord uses conductors of phase & neutral: 11 AWG / ground: 13-14 AWG; strand size 0.37mm.
Which plug does the Beta power cord come with, and why do the photos look different?
The Beta power cord we sell is supplied with a US plug and an IEC connector. Esprit's product photos show the European version of the Beta power cord, so the plug on your cord will differ from the pictures.
Will the Beta power cord disturb my other cables?
Esprit shields all of its mains cables in full so they do not radiate into nearby interconnects and speaker cables, and the Beta power cord is built that way. Ask us if you would like more detail on how the Beta power cord is made.
What does the Beta power cord cost?
The Beta power cord is $499 for 1.5 m, $599 for 2 m and $899 for 4 m. Sales tax is included in the price of the Beta power cord, and we deliver it free anywhere in the USA.
Where is the Beta power cord made, and when will it ship?
Esprit builds every Beta power cord by hand in its workshop in Confolens, France. The Beta power cord usually ships in about 2 weeks, with free delivery anywhere in the USA and sales tax included in the price.
