Richard Cesari does not ask a speaker cable to improve the music. In his words, its job is simply to let the music through, and when a speaker cable is well designed, you stop hearing it.
The Esprit Beta Speaker Cable is a pair of loudspeaker cables from level 2 of Esprit's nine ranges. The Beta speaker cable is assembled by hand at Esprit's workshop in Confolens, in 2, 2.5, 3, 4 and 5 m pairs with banana or spade terminations.
“This means there is a sublime sense of vocal articulation but without the forwardness or leading-edge impressiveness that often plagues cable designs.”
— Alan Sircom, Hi-Fi+, reviewing the previous-generation Alpha power cord and Beta cables (2020)
The idea
Inside Esprit, the Beta range goes by a nickname, the "cable killer", and the Beta speaker cable belongs to that family. Esprit builds Beta around fine-strand pure copper, optimized insulation and protection against high-frequency interference, the foundations of the Beta speaker cable. Its dielectrics are controlled and its shielding is adapted to each use, so the Beta speaker cable is protected in the way its own signal needs.
By hand, in Charente
In Confolens, Charente, the Beta speaker cable is made the way Esprit has always worked, entirely by hand. Esprit says this hand method lets it control every step of making the Beta speaker cable and keep each one consistent. Each Beta speaker cable then passes two complete inspections, one by its assembler and one at final packing, before it leaves the workshop.
How it sounds
Esprit describes the sound of the range as balanced, dynamic and remarkably legible, and it presents the Beta speaker cable as a foundation for a stable, musical system.
Esprit explains that a larger conductor section lowers resistance, which matters in a Beta speaker cable because speaker links carry significant current. In listening, the company says, that lower resistance tends to bring a quieter background, firmer bass and freer dynamics from the Beta speaker cable. The Beta speaker cable is insulated in high-temperature PVC, which Esprit associates with a dense presentation and a firm foundation in the bass. Esprit has found that very fine strands help high-frequency detail, provided the insulation keeps the treble in check, and the Beta speaker cable uses fine-strand pure copper.
Finding your place in the range
The Beta speaker cable is level 2 of Esprit's nine, above Alpha and below Celesta. Tell us what the Beta speaker cable will connect and we will help you check the details. You can see the Beta speaker cable beside the other Esprit ranges in our Esprit collection.

Questions
How does the Beta speaker cable differ from the Alpha speaker cable?
The Beta speaker cable sits one level above the Alpha speaker cable. Compared with the Alpha speaker cable, the Beta speaker cable uses shielding specified as partial shielding with a silver-plated copper braid providing 100% optical coverage plus full shielding with aluminum vapor deposition on Mylar.
How does the Celesta speaker cable compare with the Beta speaker cable?
The Celesta speaker cable is the next level up from the Beta speaker cable. Where it differs from the Beta speaker cable, the Celesta speaker cable uses 40 micron copper/silver multilayer plating, high-temperature PVC plus silicone insulation and shielding specified as partial shielding with a silver-plated copper braid providing 100% optical coverage.
Banana or spade: which termination should I choose for the Beta speaker cable?
The Beta speaker cable is offered with banana or spade terminations made by Esprit, at the same price. Choose whichever your amplifier and loudspeaker terminals accept most securely, or send us the model names and we will check them for the Beta speaker cable.
What does the Beta speaker cable cost?
The Beta speaker cable is $599 for 2 m, $739 for 2.5 m, $859 for 3 m, $1,119 for 4 m and $1,379 for 5 m per pair. Sales tax is included in the price of the Beta speaker cable, and we deliver it free anywhere in the USA.
Where is the Beta speaker cable made, and when will it ship?
Esprit builds every Beta speaker cable by hand in its workshop in Confolens, France. The Beta speaker cable usually ships in about 2 weeks, with free delivery anywhere in the USA and sales tax included in the price.
