Esprit gives every Ethernet cable one plain task: carry the signal from one point to another and take as little from it as possible. A Ethernet cable cannot add information to what your components extract, the company notes, but a careless design can take some away.

The Esprit Celesta Audiophile Ethernet Cable is an RJ45 network cable from Esprit's Celesta range. Each Celesta Ethernet cable is made by hand in Confolens, in France's Charente region, in 1.2, 2.2 and 3.2 m.

A step up

Celesta marks a clear step up in the Esprit hierarchy, and the Celesta Ethernet cable is built to make that step. Esprit's goal at this level is a quieter, more stable and more natural transmission, which the Celesta Ethernet cable shares with every Celesta link. For the network link, Esprit fits Telegärtner connectors to the Celesta Ethernet cable for their mechanical precision. Richard Cesari has been making cables since 1996, and the Celesta Ethernet cable carries three decades of that work.

Made by hand in Confolens

Esprit's team designs and assembles the Celesta Ethernet cable by hand in its workshop in Confolens, Charente. Richard Cesari insists that assembly counts as much as materials, so each Celesta Ethernet cable is checked at every stage of the work. The first complete check of the Celesta Ethernet cable is made by the person who built it, and nothing moves on until it has been validated.

Listening

Esprit describes Celesta's sound as refined, open and coherent, and it points to clearer micro-information and a more stable stage from the Celesta Ethernet cable.

Telegärtner RJ45 connectors terminate the Celesta Ethernet cable. Its shielding is specified as double-shielded silver-plated pure copper, in line with Esprit's view that a Celesta Ethernet cable is shielded according to the sensitivity of its signal. For Esprit, a cable such as the Celesta Ethernet cable should simply let the system express what it can do. A well-designed cable cannot be heard, Richard Cesari says, and that is the standard the Celesta Ethernet cable is held to.

Choosing your Ethernet cable

The Celesta Ethernet cable is level 3 of Esprit's nine, above Beta and below Eterna. The Celesta Ethernet cable comes in 1.2, 2.2 and 3.2 m lengths. If you would like a second opinion on the Celesta Ethernet cable for your system, we're happy to talk it through. The full Esprit collection shows the Celesta Ethernet cable alongside the rest of the family.

Questions

How does the Celesta Ethernet cable differ from the Beta Ethernet cable?

The Celesta Ethernet cable sits one level above the Beta Ethernet cable. Compared with the Beta Ethernet cable, the Celesta Ethernet cable uses shielding specified as double-shielded silver-plated pure copper.

How does the Eterna Ethernet cable compare with the Celesta Ethernet cable?

The Eterna Ethernet cable is the next level up from the Celesta Ethernet cable. Where it differs from the Celesta Ethernet cable, the Eterna Ethernet cable uses shielding specified as triple shielded silver-plated pure copper.

How is the Celesta Ethernet cable shielded?

The Celesta Ethernet cable is specified as double-shielded silver-plated pure copper, with Telegärtner RJ45 connectors. Esprit does not shield every cable the same way, and it studied the Celesta Ethernet cable according to its signal and how sensitive that signal is to interference.

Where does the Celesta Ethernet cable go in a network audio system?

The Celesta Ethernet cable is an RJ45 network cable for the link into your streamer or network player, typically from a router or switch. The Celesta Ethernet cable comes in 1.2, 2.2 and 3.2 m, so measure the run and choose the length that fits.

What does the Celesta Ethernet cable cost?

The Celesta Ethernet cable is $549 for 1.2 m, $799 for 2.2 m and $1,049 for 3.2 m. Sales tax is included in the price of the Celesta Ethernet cable, and we deliver it free anywhere in the USA.

Where is the Celesta Ethernet cable made, and when will it ship?

Esprit builds every Celesta Ethernet cable by hand in its workshop in Confolens, France. The Celesta Ethernet cable usually ships in about 2 weeks, with free delivery anywhere in the USA and sales tax included in the price.
