Esprit gives every power cord one plain task: carry the signal from one point to another and take as little from it as possible. A power cord cannot add information to what your components extract, the company notes, but a careless design can take some away.
The Esprit Eureka Audiophile Power Cord is a mains cable from Esprit's Eureka range. Esprit hand-builds the Eureka power cord in Confolens, Charente, with a US plug and an IEC connector, in 1.5 and 2 m.
“Being a power cord skeptic, I must admit that Eureka brought further silence and definition when used on both preamplifier and D/A converter.”
— Joël Chevassus, 6moons, reviewing the previous-generation Eureka loom (2018)
The idea
Esprit sees Eureka as a decisive step, the range in which advanced filtering and stabilization reach every link, the Eureka power cord included. Its description of the range mentions very high conductor density, dielectrics chosen to suit each application, and air and Nomex insulation, the framework in which the Eureka power cord is built. Polarization is reinforced at this level, up to double polarization on some links, to make the Eureka power cord more coherent still.
Made in Confolens
Esprit's team designs and assembles the Eureka power cord by hand in its workshop in Confolens, Charente. Richard Cesari insists that assembly counts as much as materials, so each Eureka power cord is checked at every stage of the work. The first complete check of the Eureka power cord is made by the person who built it, and nothing moves on until it has been validated.
Listening
Esprit promises exceptional silence in operation from the Eureka power cord, with greater separation between the planes of the stage, remarkable precision and a rarely reached realism.
Esprit shields its mains cables in full so they do not radiate into nearby interconnects and speaker cables, and the Eureka power cord is built that way. The conductors of the Eureka power cord are specified as Phase - Neutral - Ground: 9-10 AWG, with a strand size of 0.37mm. The construction of the Eureka power cord is described as dual-shield twisted core with wrapped earth and outer shield plus double polarization process. Esprit fits the Eureka power cord with its own US plug and IEC connector, in aluminum shells as on all cords from Eterna upward.
Where it fits
The Eureka power cord is level 7 of Esprit's nine, above Lumina and below Gaia. The Eureka power cord comes in 1.5 and 2 m with a US plug and an IEC connector. Questions
How does the Eureka power cord differ from the Lumina power cord?
The Eureka power cord sits one level above the Lumina power cord. Compared with the Lumina power cord, the Eureka power cord uses conductors of phase - neutral - ground: 9-10 AWG; strand size 0.37mm.
Is the Eureka power cord polarized and shielded?
Yes. Esprit specifies the Eureka power cord with a double polarization process, and the Eureka power cord is fully shielded, as Esprit shields all its mains cables so they do not radiate into nearby interconnects and speaker cables.
Which plug does the Eureka power cord come with, and why do the photos look different?
The Eureka power cord we sell is supplied with a US plug and an IEC connector. Esprit's product photos show the European version of the Eureka power cord, so the plug on your cord will differ from the pictures.
What does the Eureka power cord cost?
The Eureka power cord is $8,499 for 1.5 m and $10,699 for 2 m. Sales tax is included in the price of the Eureka power cord, and we deliver it free anywhere in the USA.
Where is the Eureka power cord made, and when will it ship?
Esprit builds every Eureka power cord by hand in its workshop in Confolens, France. The Eureka power cord usually ships in about 2 weeks, with free delivery anywhere in the USA and sales tax included in the price.
