Esprit's power strips began as a natural extension of its work on power cords, and the Volta power strip is the most direct expression of that idea. Years ago, Esprit recalls, power distribution truly suited to a hi-fi system often meant a large investment, so it set out to design its own, and the Volta power strip is where the Volta series begins.
The Esprit Volta Power Strip distributes mains power to up to eight components through eight US outlets. Like every Esprit product, the Volta power strip is designed and assembled by hand in Confolens, Charente.
The role of a power strip
Esprit points out that domestic mains power now lives among power-line carriers, switching power supplies, connected devices and computers, the environment the Volta power strip is designed for. The components in your system have their own filters, but their behavior also depends on the quality of the power reaching them, which is where the Volta power strip comes in. For Esprit, a hi-fi power strip has two jobs, distributing power cleanly and limiting disturbances on the line, and the Volta power strip is built for both.
One housing, three treatments
Every model in the series shares a thick aluminum housing connected to ground, and on the Volta power strip that rigid enclosure also contributes to shielding. The architecture of the Volta power strip is fully shielded, the shield of its housing is itself filtered, and its outlets use silver-plated pure copper contacts for a stable, durable connection. The Volta power strip uses the aluminum housing without any extra damping treatment.
What it does
On the Volta power strip, only the ground circuit is filtered, passively, so that the system keeps as much of its spontaneity and liveliness as possible. Esprit describes the Volta power strip as favoring transparency and musical breathing while bringing a first level of mains filtering. Its components are chosen to preserve dynamics and micro-information, and internal wiring of 3 mm² keeps the path from inlet to outlets in the Volta power strip low in resistance.

How does the Volta power strip differ from the Volta S?
The Volta power strip filters only the ground circuit, passively, uses 3 mm² internal wiring and has no added damping inside its aluminum housing. The Volta S extends filtering to earth, phase and neutral, uses 6 mm² wiring and adds partial bitumen damping.
Why do the photos of the Volta power strip show European outlets?
Esprit makes the Volta power strip with either eight EU or eight US outlets, and its photos show the European version. The Volta power strip we sell is configured with eight US outlets, so the outlets on yours will look different from the pictures.
Is the Volta power strip shielded?
Yes. The Volta power strip is fully shielded, its thick aluminum housing is grounded and adds to the shielding, and the shield of the housing is filtered. Esprit follows the same logic in its power cords, all fully shielded so they do not radiate into signal cables near the Volta power strip.
