The Nitty Gritty Mini-Pro 2 is a two-sided automatic vacuum record cleaning machine in solid oak or classic cherry. Nitty Gritty, the American record-care company founded in 1981 and based today in Kennesaw, Georgia, calls the Mini-Pro 2 its top-of-the-line cleaner.
Heritage
Nitty Gritty's machines clean records from underneath, so a side that has just been cleaned is never laid down on a dirty mat. The Mini-Pro takes that idea further, with a second slot above the record so both sides are cleaned together.
Like the rest of the range, the Mini-Pro 2 is, by Nitty Gritty's account, hand-built and made in the USA.
Design and build
An upper vacuum arm pivots out of the way for loading and lowers back onto the record. Pumped fluid is injected onto both sides of the disc, the capstan turns it, and a slide-out tray collects what the vacuum draws away. The Mini-Pro 2 frames all of this in solid oak or classic cherry.
Living with it
Nitty Gritty calls the Mini-Pro system effortless to use: place the record, slide the top arm into place and press the buttons, and the machine rotates, wets, scrubs and vacuums both sides.
Like the rest of the range, the Mini-Pro 2 is meant for sessions of up to 10 records, after which Nitty Gritty suggests letting it cool for 15 to 20 minutes.
