Why Choose the Stream 9X
The Stream 9X is a streamer with no DAC inside. Its job is to collect music from the network, from Bluetooth, or from its own digital inputs, and to send a clean digital signal to the DAC you already own. NuPrime uses its own sample rate converter chip, a low-noise linear power supply and the Libre "Orbit Mini" streaming module.
The sample rate converter is the key feature. It up-samples the signal to the megahertz range and then converts it to the rate you choose, from 44.1kHz to 768kHz PCM or DSD64 to DSD256, with low jitter and distortion. You can try different rates with your DAC and keep the one you prefer.
